Inner city Perth nightlife

Work want me to accompany them on a 'pub crawl' tonight, so here's an overview of some of the places in the Perth inner city I may be dragged along to:

Rosemount Hotel (Rosey) - Fitzgerald St Nth Perth.
Great band venue. Uni student clientele. Cover charge. Good beers on tap. Saw Ed Keupper there.

Hyde Park Hotel (Hydey) - Fitzgerald St Nth Perth.
Grungey band venue. TVs showing sports channels. Free. Good beers on tap. Bottleshop next door.

Flying Scotsman (Scotto) - Beaufort St Mt Lawley.
Indie clientele. Cider on tap. DJs on Friday nights (noisy). Pavement chairs and tables. Has an intimate live venue, The velvet lounge, attached.

Queens Hotel - Beaufort St.
Open fireplace. Selection of beers. Bottleshop next door.

Brisbane Hotel - Beaufort St.
Noisy atmosphere. Classy clientele, slovenly backpackers need not apply.

The Castle - Newcastle St.
7 day a week metal venue. Gothic/Metal/Stoner Rock clientele - Don't wear color.

The Deen - Aberdeen St.
Full of 18 year olds. Crap music. Gasolina - I hated that song in Spain. I hate it in Australia. Covers of Van Halen's Jump? it ain't 1984 any more! Plenty of talent.

Euro Bar - Aberdeen St(?)
Sophisticated club. Shame about the music.

Universal Bar - William St.
Full of 30 somethings. Crap music: covers. Beers on tap? nah.

Brass Monkey - William St.
Good beers. Wednesday night comedy. Big screen TV. Often tacky music videos though. Grapeskin Winebar/Bottleshop next door.

Novaks - James St.
Dimly lit bar (below Rise). Why don't these people turn on the lighting? Don't try the peanuts. Had world cup soccer on TV.

Connections - James St.
cover charge. Gay people dressed up as pirates. Expensive beer to offset the water most consume instead.

Rosie O'Grady's - James St.
Irish backpackers. And then some. Irish beer. Noisy. Cover bands.

Mustang bar - Lake St.
Crowded. Bad cover bands. 18 year olds galore. Big screen TV.

Elephant and wheelbarrow. Lake St.
A geriatric's paradise.

Black Betty's - Aberdeen St(?)
Backpackers, white trash. Terrible music. Janet from Spiderbait would be appalled they'd named the place after one of their songs!

Belgian Beer cafe - Murray St.
Belgian beer. Noisy. Outside tables for smoking.

Amplifier Bar - Murray St.
Great band venue. Not the best on tap. Open 'til late with recorded music afterwards. Like Rosey has a cover charge, but you've gotta keep out the riff-raff somehow! :)
