Yet more film reviews!

Ten Canoes:
Aboriginal dreamtime story set in Arnhem Land. A witty fable about a man's journey from adolescence to maturity. In this movie we see a vision of aboriginal life unblemished by white man. Features the narration of David Gulpilil (Rabbit-Proof Fence) . 3.5/5

Australian Rules:
Another film about aborigines and... footy! Explorers small town Australian life and the co-existence of aboriginal and european peoples. Sport is seen to be a powerful force in bringing the two cultures together. Highlights how fragile this harmony can be, with tragic results. 4/5

Both films remind us of the unique contribution aborigines have made to Australian life. The first emphasises the innocence of the pre-european settlement, the second challenges us as whitefellas to appreciate and respect them.
