Food

Dad wondered what food I have been eating while over here.

I ate vietnamese food on monday night and japanese for lunch today. The strip in nearby William Street is similar to some of the vietnamese streets in Melbourne. I've got to practice using chopsticks, as former colleagues Linton and Anne will appreciate.

Cooking for one is something of a challenge in selecting small portions at grocers.

Cooking in, I've been using a lot of olives, sundried tomatoes, stinky blue cheese and mushrooms. Chorizo, that Spanish staple, is prevalent in delis nowadays but I haven't seen jamon serrano (Spanish ham).

Today we arranged for another quotation for the bathroom renovations - may get started on it by mid May.

I miss your cooking Pete.
& I think Micah misses your cuddles. Dad nurses him some evenings in the armchair.

I've offered your bed to Trish to stay overnight next time she has to come to Melbourne. She had a day's notice to come to the Royal Melbourne for pre-op assessment last Tues, and was to have a coronary artery bypass op on Wed.(yesterday) She stayed in a motel overnight, and was admitted and ready for the op when they cancelled it at 11:30. She was not impressed! She may have another 2 week wait. - Such is the state of our public hospital system.

Nice to see you getting in some chopstick practice Pete... Keep up the good work mate - you'll be catching flies like Mr Miagi and Daniel San in no time!

Hope you've enjoyed the trip to Rottnest Island.
The weather report said it was 19 in Perth - the same as here - quite a cold wind here and I imagine it could have been choppy there. I remember feeling seasick - though didn't actually vomit - when we took John there in 1968. We spent most of the time in a park under a shady tree - a bit limited in travelling around the island by having a baby with us. We didn't have the easy way of carrying babies around like Willeka & David have.

Trish is going to a friend's place in Blackburn South - not coming to use your bed.
